GreenHeart LLC has a long relationship with this wonderful client. Many years after landscaping the front yard, we designed a modern, functional, and multi-season entertaining space for the rear. The entire back wall of this Charles Goodman-designed home is glass, which had bleached out carpets and woodwork inside the house over the years. A natural hedge of Nandina domestica takes the heat and reduces solar gain. A specimen Stewartia tree has pride of place just outside the back door: a small landing made of Ipé marks the entry. The new patio is made of square concrete pavers, which are perfect with the architecture of the home. The purple haze of Mazus reptans flowers between stepping stones is a charming touch in late spring, and an exuberant planting of shade-loving Ferns, Hosta, and Astilbe welcomes the homeowner.
